I'll start by saying that Karli was not just a dog; if you don't understand that, there is no point you reading this page any further. Karli was my best friend and I miss her like crazy; I'm making this page because she was such a special girl and deserves to be remembered as such - even by people who may not have met her in person.

Like all Rotties, Karli was very protective of those she loved; she was my girl, but was protective of everyone in the household. The cats were her babies - she totally adored them and cared fo them as if they were her own puppies; she washed them, cuddled them, and protected them whenever another dog was around.

This photo was taken when Karli and Tabitha met for the very first time. Tabitha was nervous of her new environment, but, although she had never even seen a dog before, immediately loved Karli. Tabitha's reaction surprised Karli, as she was used to kittens hiding until they learnt she wasn't going to hurt them.

Tabitha's brother, Howie, was not so impressed when he first met Karli - he spent the first few hours hiding in the carrier I had brought him home in. It wasn't long before Howie realised Karli was a good friend after all; the two became very close friends - Howie is one of the cats most affected by Karli's death.

When it came to food, Karli was ever willing to help anyone eat it! Although she enjoyed the things considered to be normal dog foods, Karli was also very keen on fruit; she especially enjoyed pears, plums, strawberries and grapes - but her real favourite was oranges. Whenever anyone was eating one, she would sit and drool at them until they gave in and shared it with her. I used to peel Karli's oranges for her, until one day I gave her one and said for her to peel it herself - I expected Karli to look at me blankly, not knowing what I meant. Imagine how surprised I was when she laid down and started peeling it! From that day onwards, until she got too ill, Karli always peeled her own oranges.

The first time I gave Karli a plum, she wasn't sure what to do with it - she ended up peeling the flesh off and eating the stone in the middle! It didn't take her long to figure out the right way to eat them though. Another of Karli's favourites was melon - I'd cut her a slice and she would lay and delicately nibble on it until just the outer skin was left; she always ate fruit delicately - and corn, she absolutely adored corn on the cob.

Karli always loved her walks; we used to walk together for hours. As her health deteriorated, our walks grew shorter and shorter until Karli was unable to enjoy walks at all. Although walking was no longer an option, Karli still had lots of fun; she never really grew up, always playing and bouncing around like a puppy. Even when the pain must have been unbearable, Karli still had a bounce and a woof for everyone she loved.

I miss my girl desperately, but the time was right to talk about her.
